A Life of a Peafowl

Both male and female Peafowl have crests on top of their heads which are also present on the Green Peafowl species. Female Peafowl lack the bright colours of the male and have a more duller appearance which is common in many other bird species. The male Indian Peacock has iridescent colouring of blue and green on its head, neck and breast.

I breed PEACOCKS, PHEASANTS, OSTRICH, PARROTS, FANCY PIGEONS AND FANCY CHICKEN, We sell eggs, chicks and mature birds. We got a female peacock and after she lied her eggs it is now 4 days she didn't want to eat. We have rescued a young Indian blue peacock male & looking for company of a female.

Peacocks change their plumage once a year and you can get about 150 to 200 feathers from and adult bird every year. Peacocks are very beautiful and their feathers attract almost all types of people. The Indian and Burmese peacocks are considered as the most beautiful birds.

People raise various types of birds for the purpose of producing meat, eggs, and also for their beauty. L never knew it's only the male peacocks that have this beautiful feathers." Peacocks are also found in forests and dense foliage particularly during the breeding season when the female peacocks are trying to incubate their eggs and rear their chicks without any unwelcome predators spotting them.

When the male peacock does not have his brightly coloured and very elaborate tail feathers on display, they drag behind him. The male is peacock is generally about twice the size of the female peahen, and even larger when the male peacock is displaying his plumage (feathers). Male peacocks are known as peacocks and female peacocks are known as peahens (in a similar way to chickens and pheasants).

The male peacock is most well known for it's enormous tail feathers that fan out behind the peacock and can be nearly two meters in length. Long tail feathers and colourful tail of males. Re: mesorah-man You are correct that there have been some Jewish communities that seem to have eaten peacock in the past (for example, the peacock was one of 30 birds pictured in a 150-year-old Italian book on kosher poultry), However, in halachik literature there are apparently two species that were called peacock (or to be more accurate, their equivalent), furthermore, there isn't anyone alive today who can actually testify about a tradition about the peacock, in light of all this, no kashrus organization will certify peacock as kosher.

Peacocks (peafowls) are vegetarian in nature, as are nearly all of the birds mentioned earlier. Peafowl are omnivores and eat mostly plant parts, flower petals, seed heads, insects and other arthropods , reptiles , and amphibians Wild peafowl look for their food scratching around in leaf litter either early in the morning or at dusk. In the peacock species, males congregate a communal display during breeding season and the peahens observe.

Merle Jacobs' food-courtship theory states that peahens are attracted to peacocks for the resemblance of their eye spots to blue berries.
